United States President Donald Trump has called for a change of leadership in Ukraine, declaring that the country needs a new president capable of negotiating a peace agreement with Russia.
Speaking to journalists at the White House on Saturday, October 10, 2026, Trump criticised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, accusing him of repeatedly missing opportunities to end the prolonged conflict.
"I suggest they get a new leader who can make a deal," Trump declared.
Trump also criticised Ukrainian military attacks on Russian oil refineries, arguing that such operations were contributing to rising diesel prices and worsening global energy shortages.
The American president's comments came shortly after his administration announced an agreement with Russia concerning diesel supplies, a development that has generated strong objections from Ukrainian officials.
Zelenskyy criticised the decision to ease restrictions on Russian fuel exports, warning that increased energy revenue could strengthen Moscow's ability to continue its military operations.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war remain uncertain as both countries continue military operations despite international calls for peace.
The latest remarks from Trump have further highlighted growing disagreements between Washington and Kyiv over the direction of peace negotiations.
