The Igbo-language cultural epic, Ikenga: The Last Festival, has recorded a major box-office milestone, grossing more than ?100 million barely one month after its cinema release.
The movie, which opened in cinemas nationwide on August 21, 2026, has reportedly grossed ?103.4 million, earning recognition as the highest-grossing Igbo-language film of all time in West Africa.
Executive Producer Anita Odiakaose described the achievement as an important milestone for culturally driven Nigerian cinema and a boost for the promotion of Igbo language, culture and heritage.
The film tells a story set in the kingdom of Umuani, where sacred traditions are threatened by the rise of forbidden powers, forcing the king, elders and people to confront forces challenging their way of life.
Directed by Darlington Kelechi, the movie features prominent Nollywood stars including Pete Edochie, Nkem Owoh, Patience Ozokwor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Zubby Michael, Jide Kene Achufusi, Regina Daniels, Destiny Etiko and Beverly Osu.
The commercial success of Ikenga: The Last Festival further demonstrates the growing audience for Nigerian indigenous-language films on the big screen.
