VENO tv CRIMEWATCH EMIR AJAGUNGBADE BURIED AMID TEARS AS POLICE PROBE ILE-IFE PARK KILLING

The remains of Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade, have been laid to rest amid tears and grief in Osogbo, Osun State.
Oyeyemi, a political associate of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and a prominent figure in the state’s transport sector, was reportedly shot dead on Sunday, September 13, during violence connected with a leadership dispute at motor parks in Ile-Ife.
He was buried at his private residence in the Agunbelewo area of Osogbo. Family members, friends, associates and sympathisers gathered to mourn his sudden death.
According to reports, trouble broke out around the Mayfair area of Ile-Ife amid a lingering disagreement over the control and leadership of motor parks. The confrontation reportedly escalated into violence, during which Oyeyemi was fatally shot.
The Osun State Police Command has since commenced an investigation to establish the immediate and remote causes of the shooting, identify those responsible and bring anyone found culpable to justice.
Different accounts and accusations have continued to circulate concerning those allegedly involved in the confrontation. Some rival transport figures have been mentioned in reports, but such allegations remain subject to police investigation, and no individual should be pronounced guilty before the conclusion of the investigation and due judicial process.
The killing has generated sadness, fear and concern, particularly over the recurring struggle for control of motor parks.
VENO tv believes that no motor park, garage or transport union position is worth the loss of human life.
It is disturbing that disagreements over the management of public transport facilities can deteriorate into violence, shootings and deaths.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered security agencies to apprehend those responsible and has announced plans to reintroduce a Park Management System to restore order and discipline across motor parks in Osun State.
This tragedy should serve as a wake-up call, not only to Osun State but to governments across Nigeria.
Motor parks must not become private territories where rival groups battle for supremacy. Government must provide transparent regulation, effective security and accountable management capable of ending violence and intimidation in the transport sector.
Emir Ajagungbade is gone, but another life must not be lost because of the struggle for control of a motor park.
May his family and loved ones find the strength to bear this painful loss.
