VENO NEWS:SENATOR ADENIYI ADEGBONMIRE SAN : A PUMP-ACTION AND DYNAMIC POLITICIAN. – Banji Abuloye

Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN, is representing Ondo Central Senatorial District in the 10th Assembly as one of them.

Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters; Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions; member of fourteen other Senate Committees including but not limited to Senate Committees on Appropriations,Constitutional Amendments, Works, Air Force, Interior, Finance, NDDC, Ethics, Code of Conduct, Public Petitions and others. He is indeed a rear breed of politician whose idea of politics is highly imbued with radical liberalism.
When a legislator come through for his constituents, more often than not it is always in full force. Senator Adegbonmire in less than two years has come through for his constituents that his personality is akin to pump-action, a manual firearm action that is operated by moving a sliding handguard on the gun’s fore stock. It must be noted that this road has been long overdue for such dualization but was abandoned and beyond that, the dualization being signed into national budget has clearly taken the financial burden off the State Government budget and expenses, it is clearly a financial relief for the state in general. Secondly, keeping his professional body in mind and to enhance utmost
performance and advancement of legal profession, he donated a Multi Million Naira Digital Library to Nigeria Barr Association, Akure Branch.
Moreover, he influenced the grading and maintenance of 30km Oke Iya community road along Ijoka in Akure South Local Government Area which was abandoned by past governments thereby bringing the untold hardship of the landlords and residents of that area to an end. Grading and maintenance of Abo-Oluwa Ijigba 2 Community road in Akure South Local Government Area; Grading and maintenance of old board road, Oda Community in Akure South Local Government Areas; Installation of Solar powered street lights across towns in Ondo Central Senatorial District.
Also donation and installation of 500kva transformer to traders, artisans and entrepreneurs at Ondo State Industrial Park, Onyarugbulem, Akure. Prior to this gesture from the Senator, which has really boosted the economic activities in the area, the industrial park had been in perpetual blackout for over 18 months as a result of the damaged transformer. Construction of 12 blocks of classrooms at St. Helens Unity Secondary School, Ondo, Ondo West Local Government Area.
In the area of education, this cerebral Senator knew that education is the best legacy he can give to the younger generation. Senator Adegbonmire in imbibing the philosophy of education as the best legacy; embarked on various programs that will enhance advancement of education such as distribution of multimillion naira educational materials to pupils and students through his program tagged “Back to School” where he gave educational materials like laptops, note- books, text-books, school-bags, projectors, public address system, magnetic board etc.to the students.
He also provided and still providing financial support for law students in his constituency toward payment of their law school tuition; procurement of UTME /JAMB Forms in the year 2024 for over 300 students with scholarship for two best performing students (male and female) in each of the six Local Government Areas; Procurement of UTME/JAMB Forms in the year 2025 for over 300 students with scholarship for two best performing students (male and female) in each of the six Local Government Areas.
He has facilitated construction of 12 blocks of classrooms at St. Helens Unity Secondary School, Ondo, Ondo West Local Government Area; construction and renovation of Local Authority (L.A) Primary School, Erinla, Ondo West Local Government Area; construction and renovation of Fagbo Community Comprehensive High School, Fagbo Town, Ondo East Local Government Area; renovation of St. Thomas Primary School, Akure, among others.
Knowing that Ondo State, particularly Ondo Central Senatorial District is predominantly agrarian area, Senator Adegbonmire imbued with native intelligence embarked on training and supply of Agro-Allied Products to farmers in Ondo Central District, the effort which in no too distant time shall yield bountiful results. A farmer has to be an optimist or he wouldn’t still be a farmer, as a dry March, a wet April and cool May fill ban and cellar and bring much hay.
Welfare of the Constituents: Man becomes great exactly in the degree which he works for the welfare of his fellowmen and until great mass of the people shall be filled with sense of responsibility for each other’s welfare, social justice can never be attained. He has facilitated amongst other things the following to put smiles on their faces at the time that it appeared most imperative: - Multimillion Naira project of Christmas gift of cows, rams, rice and cash to the constituents during Christmas period on yearly basis, since he was elected to represent them at the inner chambers. Distribution of 600 bags of federal government's palliative rice which was facilitated by him to residents across his constituency which includes interest groups, Christian and Muslim constituents to cushion the effects of subsidy removal. Distribution of Salah and Ramadan gifts to the muslims in his constituency on every Salah Ramadan period. Payment of hospital bills of his constituents that are indigent through his health assisted program. Distribution of cash gifts to widows and aged people in his constituency.
Employment of Youths: Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN, by facilitating employments of a great number of jobless youths in his constituency into Federal Civil Services, Federal Government Agencies, Para-Military and Nigerian Police Force has clearly reduced the worries and grave concern of a good number of youths and their parents. According to the late American Civil Rights Leader, Martin Luther King Jr. “Darkness cannot drive out light, only light can do that.”
We are all about progress and not perfection, therefore empowerment is like the light that can drive out darkness in the life of any individual, it is also the progress we all need from time to time. Empowerment will give you mental and physical strength to believe in your capacity and ability to succeed.
Our distinguished Senator has facilitated the training and empowerment of about 100 women in oil palm processing across Ondo Central Senatorial his constituency. He has also facilitated the purchase of multipurpose engines and machines for a good number of artisans in his constituency as well as distribution of multimillion naira educational materials to pupils and students.
Bills Sponsored: The prominent and supreme responsibility of a legislator is to legislate. Legislations are the instrumentality of government to control the society, however; morality cannot be legislated but behaviors of respective individuals in the society can be regulated through legislations. Legislations are also the propellers that are used to propel the development of a polity. A legislator that knows his onions must make sponsoring the bills that will enhance the development of his constituency the centerpiece of his legislative functions and activities.

A Bill for an Act to Establish Federal University of Agriculture, Akure, Ondo State. (Establishment) Bill 2024. The bill is to upgrade the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure which was established on the 3rd January 1957 to a full fledge Federal University, this bill is long overdue as some other Federal Colleges of Agriculture established much after this college was established like Federal College of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State that was upgraded to Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State. The bill was read for the first time on Wednesday 15th May, 2024 and just passed through the second reading.
Also a Bill for an Act to Establish Federal University of Technology Akure. Teaching Hospital. (Establishment) Bill 2024. This bill passed the second reading in December, 2024. Federal University of Technology Akure was given final approval in 2010 by the National University Commission for commencement of a course in Medicine and Surgery, MBBS with effect from the 2020-2021 academic session. This program has since commenced. However, in order to obtain an MBBS degree in Nigeria; it is compulsory that the student has to spend approximately three and a half years in a teaching hospital without which it is practically impossible to obtain such degree, therefore the distinguished Senator has saved the students the impending hardship of being moved to another tertiary institution with requisite facilities for the completion of the course.
A Bill for an Act to Establish Federal University of Art, Culture, Science and Tourism, Igbara-Oke, Ondo State (Establishment) Bill 2024. This university is a special one as it is first of its kind in Nigeria, it has passed the first reading and due for second reading very soon. A Bill for an Act to Establish Federal College of Vocational and Technical Studies, Idanre, idanre Local Government Area, Ondo State (Establishment) Bill 2025. This bill passed the first reading on the Tuesday, 6th day of February, 2025. It is to provide for teaching, research, instruction and training on Vocational, Technical and other related matters.
The full implementation of these bills when finally signed into various Acts will definitely enhance the development of entire Ondo State and not Ondo Senatorial District alone. No doubt; the distinguish Senator is passionate about these bills and it is as sure as death that he will not only see them through within his first term, he will surely sponsor more masses oriented bills to drive the development of his
constituency in a supersonic manner.
In conclusion,reward for hard work is more work and one good term deserves another. With his amazing score card within this short period in the Red Chambers, this distinguished and cerebral Senator has engraved his name in the heart of his constituents. There is no gain asserting that Ondo Central Senatorial district has never had it this good in terms of qualitative representation at the Senate since 1999.
