The TRACE Area Commander in charge of Ogun West, Cdr Ajibade Adekunle, has emerged the current Chairman of Ogun State Chapter of Chartered Institute of Transport of Nigeria (CIOT),
According to the information, he was inaugurated and took the oath of office and allegiance alongside 23 other states chairmen and executives throughout the federation on Wednesday by the national leadership of the Chartered Institute of Transport Admnistration of Nigeria.
The inaugural ceremony for state chapters was conducted in Abuja through virtual to accommodate members across the country by the President of the Institute, Dr. Segun Obayendo, accompanied by other national leaders with Zonal Executives in attendance.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, Cdr 'Seni Ogunyemi who is also the South-West Zonal Coordinator of the institute, while officially declaring open the temporary office of the Ogun State chapter of CIOTA in Abeokuta, charged the State chairman and the executives to stem the rising tide of road crashes involving trailers and tankers on Nigerian roads through advocacy and enlightenment.
Cdr Ogunyemi reiterates on membership drive to accommodate more qualified transport personnel into the fold in order to bring sanity into transportation in the country.
In his response, speaking on the enormous responsibility bestowed on him as the Ogun State Chairman of CIOTA, Ajibade appreciated the Almighty God and leaders of the institute describing his emergence as privilege with assurance that CIOTA in Ogun will perform wonders in achieving a lot within a short period of time.
He further revealed his plans to take CIOTA to Manufacturer Association of Nigeria, MAN as well as other governmental and non-governmental organizations, saying CIOTA is an association that belongs to all other professions with the slogan "We are CIOTA, we are indispendable".
Other Executive officers of Ogun State Chapter is the Vice Chairman, Margaret Emem Ogunbiyi, Secretary, Odeyemi Agness, Asst secretary, Adewunmi Babatunde, Fin Sec, Filani Morolake Waleola, Treasurer, Yakub Azeez Oyegbenga, Provost, Jimoh Fatai Kehinde while Auditor is Dr Taiwo Ali
The committee Chairman of CIOTA, Prof Samuel Odewumi during his key not address said the inauguration of the state chapters marks a significant step in deepening the professional reach, impact, and efficiency of transport administration in Nigeria.
His words: "Transport is the backbone of economic development, social integration, and national progress. Efficient transport systems facilitate commerce, ensure seamless mobility, and drive economic prosperity.
"As Nigeria continues to evolve due to urbanization, technological advancements, and infrastructural growth, the role of professional transport administrators becomes more critical than ever.
