VENO tv: Afe Babalola Vs Dele Farotimi: Ekiti Magistrate Court Adjourned ruling on Farotimi"s bail application to December 20.. Date: 19-12-24
However, two major dramas at the Magistrate court in Ekiti State where Dele Farotimi is facing defamation charges include the rejection of SAN’s to represent him by the magistrate and the amendment of charges to now include ‘treason’.
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Olumide Fusika alongside other two senior lawyers were asked to step down because they are SAN’s and should not represent at the Magistrate level. Fusika however contended that the Magistrate laws in Ekiti approves of him to do so. The magistrate is to rule on ‘legal representation’ by the next adjournment.
It is being argued by the complainant’s counsels that Mr. Farotimi should not be granted bail by the magistrate, citing that the defendant committed “Criminal defamation which exposed complainant to contempt, ridicule and damaging integrity”
There are now about 14 count charges, now including ‘treason’.
