According to the President of the Association Mr.Joshua Uloko who emphatically revealed that Mr. Onita is among the people that created the path of celebrity Journalism in Nigeria. Therefore, let's honour whom honour is due . He said
Mr. Funmi Coker Onita, happily married to Mrs. Victoria Toyin Onita nee Ajayi over 40 years and blessed with four children.
He holds a Master's degree (M Sc) in Mass Communication, a first degree in Psychology (B Sc), all from University of Lagos. Also hold a Diploma in Journalism from Times Newspaper Training Centre.
He cuts his professional teeth in the defunct Daily Times of Nigeria (DTN), rising from the position of Features Writer, Senior writer, Acting Science Editor, Acting Features Editor, acting Editor, Times International.
and later to Editor, Spear Magazine.
He later moved out of DTN to become Editor, Prime People and left few months later to establish Today's Choice Magazine (TC) as its Publisher/Chief Executive..
The magazine had since been rested. For the period it lasted, 10 years, TC was one of the most vibrant in its soft sell segment. Today's Choice remains one of the pioneers of entertainment journalism in Nigeria.
Mr. Coker ONITA left active journalism and moved into media consultancy and public relations. He was Editorial Consultant and Columnist at Independent Newspapers Limited.
He is now a politician with large followership in his Local Government (KOSOFE) and a full time farmer.. Congratulations in advance sir
