Date: 13-08-26

Barrister Hon. Pelumi Olajengbesi has declared that the August 15 Osun governorship election could spell political doom for the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that the party needs to “look within” and address the internal divisions arising from its governorship primary.
Olajengbesi said the emergence of the APC governorship candidate, popularly known as Ambo, left other aspirants dissatisfied after they were sidelined, a development he claimed is still creating ripples within the party.
According to him, the APC has also made several unsuccessful attempts to weaken the Accord Party ahead of the election.
“In the first instance, they tried every means to deregister the Accord Party, but they failed. They also tried to sponsor a fake national chairman for the Accord Party, and that failed,” he alleged.
Olajengbesi expressed confidence that Governor Ademola Adeleke remains the candidate to beat in the August 15 election.
“Come August 15, the doomsday is here for the APC. Ademola Adeleke is a popular candidate and will beat every other contestant,” he said.
He further alleged that people were brought into Osun from other states for the APC mega rally in an attempt to demonstrate massive support for the party.
However, Olajengbesi appealed to political actors and their supporters to maintain peace before, during and after the election.
Speaking on recent killings and violence in the state, he maintained that anyone found responsible must eventually account for their actions.
He disclosed that calls have been made for an independent inquiry into the killings, stressing that justice should be pursued through lawful and transparent processes.
As Osun prepares for the August 15 governorship election, Olajengbesi urged the electorate to remain peaceful and allow the democratic process to determine the next government of the state.
