The National Spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has reacted strongly to the judgment delivered by Justice Lifu concerning the status of the party.
Speaking on behalf of the ADC, Abdullahi maintained that the party remains undistracted and confident that justice will prevail through the appellate process.
According to him, the judgment ordering the deregistration of five political parties will not stand, stressing that the ADC has already taken steps to challenge the ruling in court.
He argued that the Court of Appeal had directed that no further action should be taken on the matter pending the determination of the appeal scheduled for October. He therefore described the judgment as an act of "judicial rascality" and insisted that the party would vigorously pursue all legal remedies available.
"We have confidence in the judiciary, and this rascality will not stand. We have perfected the act of moving on, and we shall come back stronger," Abdullahi stated.
The ADC spokesman further affirmed that the party remains a legally recognized political platform and noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had previously affirmed through legal processes that the party had met all constitutional and statutory requirements.
He emphasized that the ADC remains committed to strengthening Nigeria's democracy and providing an alternative political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
"We are not distracted. Nigerians will decide their future in 2027, and ADC will be on the ballot," he said.
The development has generated reactions within political circles, coming shortly after Nigeria marked 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance.
Observers are expected to watch closely as the legal battle progresses through the appellate courts in the months ahead.
