As Nigeria marks 27 years of uninterrupted democratic rule, the Presiding Bishop of Veno Prayer Centre, Bishop Dr. Sanya Ojo SOMH Cares, has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day and called on citizens to rise above fear, stagnation, and discouragement.
Speaking during the Friday edition of the Critical Hour of Prayer and Power message titled "Get Up Quickly!", Bishop Ojo noted that although Nigeria is still facing numerous challenges, the nation must not remain where it is.
According to him, the theme was anchored on Acts 12:7 and 2 Timothy 1:7, which remind believers that God has not given His children the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind.
"Get up quickly because your chains are falling. Get up from discouragement. Get up from failure. Get up from fear. Get up from spiritual laziness. Get up from delay. The same God who delivered Peter from prison is still working miracles today," the cleric declared.
Bishop Ojo explained that Peter could have remained in prison if he had ignored the angel's instruction to rise immediately. He urged Nigerians to respond positively to divine opportunities and refuse to remain trapped by circumstances.
He prayed that every prison door standing against the progress of God's people would be opened and that every chain of limitation would be broken.
"Your prison door shall open. Your chains shall fall. Your testimony shall manifest in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen."
The cleric also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for facilitating the safe return of 258 Nigerians evacuated from South Africa following recent xenophobic attacks.
According to him, Nigeria has consistently played a brotherly and leadership role on the African continent and should continue to promote peace and unity among African nations.
Bishop Ojo noted that the xenophobic incidents reflected a lack of historical understanding of Nigeria's contributions to the liberation and development of many African countries, including South Africa.
He nevertheless called for continued diplomatic engagement, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect among African nations, stressing that Africa's strength lies in unity rather than division.
As Nigerians celebrate Democracy Day, the bishop urged citizens not to lose hope but to rise with renewed determination for a better nation.
"Nigeria may still be crawling, but by the grace of God, she will rise and walk. Therefore, Nigerians, Get Up Quickly!" he concluded.
