VENO tv: Politics: : “My Regret with Peter Obi” — Julius Abure Speaks Date: 09-06-26
By VENO TV Political Desk
Factional National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, has expressed disappointment over his relationship with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
According to Abure, his greatest regret was what he described as Obi's role in creating divisions within the Labour Party after the 2023 general election.
Speaking on the recent political developments, Abure alleged that Peter Obi contributed to confusion within the party that provided him with the platform to gain national prominence during the election period.
Abure also advised members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to be cautious in their political alliance with Obi and his supporters. He specifically urged the party's leadership to carefully assess future political partnerships.
Peter Obi recently emerged as the presidential candidate of the NDC after being ratified at the party's national convention in Abuja.
When asked whether he would consider working with Obi again in the future, Abure reportedly ruled out such a possibility, stating that circumstances would not permit him to collaborate with the former Anambra State governor again.
The comments are the latest indication of the continuing political rift between the former Labour Party allies as Nigeria's political landscape gradually shifts toward the 2027 general elections.
