A man popularly known as Fabulous, reportedly a wealthy motor spare parts dealer in Mgbuka Market, Obosi, Anambra State, has allegedly been exposed as the leader of a dangerous kidnapping syndicate.
According to reports circulating online, the businessman lived a luxurious lifestyle and was widely admired for his wealth and success. Unknown to many, he was allegedly operating criminal activities from a massive duplex reportedly used as a hideout for kidnapped victims, dismantling of stolen vehicles, and illegal operations.
Sources claimed that security operatives tracked a stolen vehicle to his residence on Sunday morning. Upon arrival, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police team, leading to a gun battle. During the exchange, one police officer was reportedly killed before reinforcement arrived.
The report further stated that several gang members escaped by jumping over the fence after running out of ammunition, while the suspect knowns Fabulous was arrested while attempting to flee.
Security operatives were also said to have rescued about eight kidnapped victims from the compound, including a medical doctor reportedly linked to Crown Hospital, who had allegedly been kidnapped for ransom.
Angered by the discovery, youths in the area reportedly set parts of the property ablaze before government authorities later moved in. Reports also claimed that some buildings connected to the suspect were demolished as investigations commenced.
