By Bishop Dr. Sanya Ojo
Life is full of battles, burdens, disappointments and moments when human strength fails. Many people today are secretly crying for help, comfort, support and direction. Some need someone to encourage them, help them financially, pray with them, defend them, or stand by them during difficult seasons.
During the Hour of Mercy Programme held penultimate Wednesday, Bishop Dr. Sanya Ojo declared emphatically that everyone at one point or another needs somebody. According to him, even strong people cry in secret for help. The rich need peace, the poor need provision, the sick need healing, the lonely need comfort, and the troubled need deliverance.
He explained that many people have looked unto man and became disappointed, but God never disappoints those who trust in Him. Human help can fail, but divine help is everlasting.
Referring to the book of Psalms, he quoted:
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord...” — Psalm 121:1-2
The cleric stated that there are situations where man cannot help. There are problems money cannot solve, battles connections cannot fight, and tears friends cannot wipe away. Sometimes those you helped may abandon you, and family members may disappoint you, but when human help fails, God steps in.
Quoting Psalm 46:1, he said:
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
According to him, God specializes in impossible situations and remains the greatest Helper.
Using Isaiah 41:10 as reference, the preacher assured believers that God is always ready to help His children:
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee... I will help thee.”
He further stressed that when God helps a man, doors begin to open, shame disappears, sickness leaves, helpers arise, and battles end in victory. He cited biblical examples such as Joseph in prison, Hannah in barrenness, Blind Bartimaeus in suffering, and Lazarus in death, noting that the same God is still helping people today.
Speaking on the invitation of Jesus Christ in Matthew 11:28, Bishop Dr. Sanya Ojo reminded believers that many people are carrying silent burdens including marital problems, financial hardship, spiritual attacks, delayed blessings, disappointment and rejection.
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
He declared that Jesus is the Friend that never fails, the One who gives peace in storms and strength in weakness.
The sermon also highlighted the importance of destiny helpers. According to him, God uses people as instruments of help, and one divine connection can change a life forever. He referenced biblical examples including Ruth and Boaz, Esther and the king, David and Jonathan, as well as Elijah and the widow of Zarephath.
He prayed that God would send divine helpers to every area of the lives of believers in Jesus’ name.
In conclusion, the man of God encouraged believers never to surrender to fear or hopelessness, stressing that God will never abandon His children.
Referring to Hebrews 13:5-6, he declared:
“I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
He assured worshippers that even when people abandon them, God remains faithful, and mercy will speak for them.
The sermon ended with powerful prayers for divine help, mercy, comfort and supernatural intervention, as believers were encouraged to trust God completely because their help comes from the Lord.
