Senate President Godswill Akpabio has come to the defence of Amupitan over the controversy surrounding the phrase, “Victory is sure.”
According to Akpabio, he never said “Victory is sure” specifically for the APC, insisting that his statement was being misrepresented in the ongoing political debate.
However, critics have pointed out that an APC chieftain had earlier tweeted remarks suggesting a strong political alignment with the statement.
The controversy has continued to generate reactions, especially after a claim that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu once told Senate President Akpabio:
“I will send you to the other side to represent me.”
That remark has now fueled further speculation in political circles, with many questioning the true meaning behind the statement and the role Akpabio may be playing in the unfolding political calculations.
As the palaver deepens, observers say the matter is no longer just about words, but about loyalty, perception, and the signals being sent ahead of future political battles.
