VENO TV | Politics & Security El-Rufai Under Fire: Security Agencies, Legal Experts React to Explosive Allegations

Former Kaduna State Governor and ex-Minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has come under intense public scrutiny following his recent return to the country, as multiple investigations have reportedly been opened against him.



El-Rufai is said to be facing probes over alleged claims of phone-tapping by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), as well as an alarm he raised concerning the importation of poisonous chemicals, which he alleged passed through channels linked to the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.



Speaking on national television, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Adegboro, warned that El-Rufai’s public statements have serious national security implications and could potentially destabilize the country if not properly managed.

“He cannot be summarily exonerated. His statements can be used as corroborative evidence alongside intelligence already at the disposal of the DSS,” the legal expert noted.

Sources indicate that the Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly filed a three-count charge against El-Rufai at the Federal High Court in Abuja.



Reacting to the unfolding situation, security analyst Dr. Bulama Bukarti stated that allegations involving poisonous substances and claims of prior knowledge of criminal activities, including kidnappings in Kaduna State, are grave matters that must be thoroughly investigated in the interest of national security.



He further stressed that El-Rufai’s claim of writing formally to the National Security Adviser regarding the alleged importation of dangerous chemicals should be verified through proper institutional channels.



Recall that El-Rufai had previously alleged that the Federal Government was paying terrorists on a monthly basis—an accusation that sparked widespread controversy at the time.
