VENO TV Osun LG Funds: Court Freezes Bank Accounts, Upholds Bench Warrant By Kayode Adoide Date: 11-02-26
A Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo has ordered a restraint on banks involved in the controversial Osun State Local Government funds case, barring further transactions on the affected accounts pending the determination of the matter.
The presiding Magistrate, Adeyegba, issued the order on Monday, directing that no withdrawals, transfers, or operations should be carried out on the disputed Local Government accounts until the court concludes hearing on the case.
The court also upheld the earlier bench warrant issued against top bank officials accused of facilitating the opening and operation of the accounts by unauthorised persons, in alleged violation of existing court orders and financial regulations.
According to court proceedings, the banks failed to fully comply with previous summons, prompting the court to maintain the bench warrant as part of efforts to compel compliance and ensure accountability in the management of public funds.
The matter has been adjourned to February 28, 2026, for trial, as the legal battle over control and disbursement of Osun Local Government funds continues to intensify.
This development comes amid the lingering political and legal tussle between the Osun State Government and opposition elements over the legitimacy of local government officials and the control of council finances.
