VENO tv: APC’s Growing Footprint Ahead of 2027 Elections Plateau, Kano Join the Expanding List By Kayode Adoide
Date: 27-01-26
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) appears to be consolidating its political influence across key states of the federation, with Plateau and Kano recently joining the growing list of states aligning with the ruling party.
Despite mounting public debates over the federal government’s policies, the APC continues to gain momentum, suggesting a strategic expansion of its political footprint nationwide.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has introduced major reforms, particularly in tax restructuring, electricity sector reforms, and economic realignment, policies which have generated mixed reactions among Nigerians. While supporters argue these measures are necessary for long-term economic stability, critics contend that the immediate impact on citizens has been harsh.
Observers, however, caution that a thriving democracy requires a credible and vibrant opposition, noting that the emergence of a one-party-dominant system could weaken democratic accountability.
The critical question remains:
Will President Tinubu’s policies translate into sustained political goodwill and electoral advantage by 2027?
As political alignments continue to evolve, time will ultimately reveal whether the current reforms will strengthen the APC’s hold or galvanize opposition forces ahead of the next general elections.
