VENO NEWS: ADDRESS DELIVERED BY THE CHAIRPERSON OF IKORODU LOCAL GOVERNMENT MRS ABOLANLE ADESINA AT THE “SUCCESS PRAISE” THANKSGIVING SERVICE HELD ON THURSDAY, JULY 24, 2025 AT THE COUNCIL SECRETARIAT.

With a heart soaked in gratitude, and a spirit lifted in joyful reverence, I welcome you all warmly to this thanksgiving service of “SUCCESS PRAISE” , a day specially set aside to glorify God, reflect on His faithfulness, and celebrate the journey of grace that has brought us thus far.
As the curtain gently falls on this administration, I am reminded that every journey that begins with purpose must end with gratitude. Today is not a day of farewells, but of thanksgiving. Not a day of speeches, but of songs. Not a moment of regrets, but of reflections and rejoicing.
When we began this journey, we did so with a heart committed to service, a soul surrendered to God, and a vision firmly rooted in the growth and wellbeing of our dear people of Ikorodu. Looking back, we can boldly say , “The Lord has done great things for us, whereof we are glad.”
From our interventions in education and healthcare, to our support for women, children and the elderly, to the countless community development projects and peace-building engagements, the story of this administration has been one of faith, fortitude, and fruitful service.
We encountered challenges. Yes. But never without divine strength. We faced oppositions. True. But never without divine direction. And each step, each decision, and each success came not by power or by might, but by grace, mercy, and the collective will of a determined people.
My dear people of Ikorodu, if we do not praise God, the very stones will rise in our place. This gathering today is our offering of gratitude ,for preservation, provision, protection, and the privilege to serve.
To my darling husband, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, thank you for being a rock, a leader, and a vessel of unwavering dedication. Your love for Ikorodu is not just evident, it is etched in every corner of this local government.
To the members of the Executive and Legislative arms, our tireless staff, community leaders, traditional rulers, market women, youths, and all stakeholders , thank you for walking this journey with us. You believed in the vision. You carried the burden with us. And today, you share in the glory of the outcome.
As we bow in praise today, we hand over tomorrow to the God who owns it. We may be rounding off this tenure, but the impact, the memories, and the seeds we have sown will live on.
Let this day be a reminder that no matter the season, thanksgiving is always the perfect response. When we thank God for what He has done, we make room for more. And I trust that He who has begun a good work in Ikorodu shall perfect it in the days to come.
So, let the drums roll.
Let the voices rise.
Let the heavens hear our joy.
For we are the people the Lord has helped.
To God be all the glory!
