The General Overseer of Veno Prayer Centre a.k.a. Mountain of Covenant, Bishop Dr. Sanya Ojo, has advised Christians and members of the public to be vigilant and prayerful against the activities of wicked people who derive pleasure from the suffering and downfall of others.
Speaking during the Monday edition of the Good Morning Holy Spirit programme, Bishop Ojo, while ministering on the topic "Ika Eniyan (Wicked People)," said believers must understand that wicked people are real and can sometimes be found among relatives, friends, colleagues, and even trusted associates.
According to him, many individuals publicly celebrate the success of others but secretly harbor jealousy and hatred in their hearts.
Drawing his message from Romans 12:21, Psalm 37:1-2, Micah 7:6, and Matthew 13:25, the cleric noted that wicked people often operate through deception and hidden schemes designed to frustrate God's purpose in the lives of His children.
He cited the story of Joseph, whose brothers sold him into slavery out of envy, explaining that hatred and jealousy remain some of the major weapons used by wicked people against successful individuals.
Bishop Ojo also referred to the parable of the wheat and tares in Matthew 13:25, stating that the enemy often works secretly while people are unaware, planting obstacles in their paths.
The preacher further warned that opposition should not discourage believers from pursuing their God-given assignments, recalling how Nehemiah faced fierce resistance while rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.
"No matter how powerful wicked people may appear, they are not greater than God. The Lord who delivered Joseph, Daniel, David, and Mordecai is still on the throne today," he said.
He urged Christians to avoid revenge, remain steadfast in prayer, continue doing good, and commit every battle into God's hands.
Bishop Ojo assured worshippers that every conspiracy of the wicked would eventually fail, stressing that the presence of opposition is often an indication that a greater testimony is on the way.
He concluded by praying for divine protection, wisdom, and victory over every hidden enemy working against the destinies of God's children.
"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good," he quoted from Romans 12:21.
The programme ended with special prayers for families, businesses, ministries, and all those facing opposition from wicked and envious individuals.
