In a recent encounter with Hon.Wasiu Adesina, he on Friday interacted with VENO Crews. He spoke on President Tinubu achievements and his next political moves after his two terms tenure as the executive chairman, Ikorodu Local government central..

Q Let’s get to know you, sir?

I am Hon WASIU Adesina, the executive chairman of the Ikorodu Local Government, I served as Executive Secretary..from 2015-2016.I contested election for in 2017, and I won. I finished first term in 2021, re- contested, and won. I am currently serving my second term in office..

Ikorodu is a nice place to live .I started when it was nothing.Allocattion was at zero level. If you go to Jack, allocation was at zero level because,of my local government experience, I was once a staff member served from scratch before I became the head of human resources and chairman.

Ever before, I served as a counsellor in 1990.
In terms of achievement, I have done so much..I came to the local government when it was about to collapse, but I revived it.. This local government is standing over 50 years, without roof.. Whenever It rained, it dropped and was nowhere to hide. But I was able to repaired the dilapidated building, changed the window to aluminium, and changed the lovers to the modern one..

In terms of road, I have done more than 15 roads, the record is there..This is part of local government that received least from federation account in the whole Nigeria..

Q How are you sustaining it?
As I said, I tried to digitalize revenue and make sure there are no loopholes or lleakages. I rearranged my Constituency, I tried to and introduced incentives, those with the highest revenue will take something..These are the things that motivated them.From there money coming in from shop permits, I decided to create revenue points..We have an open space in ita elewa, I converted it for an event centre..if you want to use it, you pay and therefore, generates revenue

We have a mini bridge at itunmaja. It collapsed it because it is an old bridge built in 1901, I rebuilt it..
In terms of roads infrastructure, we have improved tremendously..We also have 114 road, State government guided us, the state government gave us the amount.The state ministry of work provided the coasting, normal procurement were allowed to take place and the state pay to the contract.one is Solumade road, is one of the best in Ikorodu..We also have Adaramoye and California road, igbo Oluwo road..We started the arrangements during the regime of Gov.Ambode..

I want to use this medium to appreciate the governor for his support. The road has brought developments to the local government..

In terms of water, I have provided more than 20 standard one, there is no ward that doesn’t have drinkable water..
Staffs welfares? I have provided officials cars to HOD, revenue buses to generate revenue..Allowance for staff every month, for treatment and other logistics.
Talking in terms of women development, we participated in international day for women..We are fully involved, mobilized women to join their counterpart from the state ..
In 2019, I was awarded best performing local government by the root watch magazine couple with the 20 seater bus ..in 2021, federal government inaugurated a committee to go round the 774 local government i came second..Recently, I came first..So many laurels invariably,we have performed better.

Q You have been fulfilled by giving people dividends of democracy , and your tenure will soon end.Do you have any preferred candidate?

A All of them are my preferred candidate, but the leadership will select the best..I don’t want to struggle with the leaders, I want them,to check their records, they know them and choose the best so that what I have done will not go in vain..
The counsellors will be distinguished to the executive and judiciary..To enjoy separation of power

Q Do you have any political moves?

A Well, I have ambition, and that depends on God and our leaders ..
Once they have since my performances, they made decide, to give me another opportunity..Am still agile and what is paramount in my mind is service to humanity ..Before I came the local government is eye sore on the Secretariat I but it has been rebranded
Q What can you say about the performance of President Tinubu?

A President Tinubu has done alot for this country, changed our orientation, brings development and with time, dividends of the arrangements will be known.Already, the price of fuel is coming down ,dollars too and GDP is improving..People are now showing interest in agriculture, bane of the development..All these are not available before, for the first time, am hearing that t federal government, governors are bringing tractors to the country for the first time instead of tokunbo that are coming, president’s initiative..It is only when you have it and you can improve.I urge Nigerians to be more patient and endure..

Q Senate President/ Natasha.. Your advice?
Senate is a model that everybody is looking at. They should destabilize it.. They should themselves to order and make corrections..

Q Advise to the successor?

They should allow service to be paramount in their minds.. It is not what they want to see but what they would contribute to the system.. Continue and improve on my achievements.. The system I met has been improved but still continues ..The changes should be better. On Muslim faithfuls during Ramadan?They should allow the teaching of Ramadan to be with them and even after it
