The controversy surrounding the ancestral origin of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has taken another turn following fresh claims by Adedeji Adetunji, who described himself as an indigene of Yewa.

In a video circulating publicly, Adetunji reacted to the recent intervention of Senator Adeola’s stepmother, Aminatu Abiola, who had defended the senator as a son of Yewa and rejected claims linking his ancestry to Ekiti State.

Adetunji, however, challenged Senator Adeola to provide what he described as convincing evidence of longstanding family ties with Yewa.
According to him, the senator should produce photographs or records of family occasions—including burials, house-warming ceremonies and other traditional family gatherings—held in Yewa over the years.

He also referred to the burial of an elderly man identified by him as Baba Ogundimu, asking the senator to name prominent APC members or community figures who attended the ceremony and could independently identify the deceased and his relationship with the family.

Adetunji further spoke about his own family background, mentioning his paternal ancestral compound in Ijogo and his association with a hunters’ group, apparently to illustrate how, in his view, genuine ancestral links can be traced through family and community history.
He consequently challenged Senator Adeola to “come out clean” and address the questions surrounding his ancestry directly.

Adetunji also thanked those managing the senator’s media responses, while warning that attempts to manage the controversy could, in his opinion, generate further questions.
He promised to release what he described as additional revelations in the coming days, insisting that he would restrict himself to information he believes he can substantiate.

The Yewa indigene further declared that he would oppose what he described as any attempt by a “stranger” to take control of Ogun State through the 2027 governorship election.

Meanwhile, Senator Adeola has repeatedly rejected allegations that he is an indigene of Ekiti State. His media team has described such claims as false and defamatory and recently challenged those making them to produce evidence or face legal action.

The senator’s stepmother, Aminatu Abiola, has also publicly maintained that Yayi is a son of Yewa.

The competing claims remain politically contentious, and the allegations made by Adetunji in the circulating video have not been independently established as facts.
