VENO NEWS: Teachers Set To Dump NUT Over Failure Of National Leadership To Address Agitation

Teachers in the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State have threatened to dump their umbrella union from Nigerian Union of Teacher to Basic Education Staff Association of Nigeria. (BESAN) if the national leadership fails to address agitations.
The teachers in a statement signed by Mr Abiodun Oladele on behalf of the group, under the guise of Concerned teachers and made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, called on its members teacher to boycott the NUT activities.
"At our meeting today held at Ipoti -Ekiti in Ijero local government, our group resolved to henceforth boycott the activities of the NUT, if the national leadership fails to address our agitations.
"We frowned at the election of the current executives that was held last month, we, as a group complain bitterly about the irregularities and the use of thugs during the election that brought in Comrade Emmanuel Oke as the newly elected state chairman NUT, Ekiti State.
"Our group also frowned at the low performance of the past NUT executives with constant violation of the provision of the union's constitution and unconcerned attitude towards the welfare of teachers in the state.
"We say that we don't want a repeat.
"If our grievances are not addressed on time, we, in the Concerned Group will move enmasse to Basic Education Staff Association of Nigeria (BESAN) which has been operating in over 27 states across the six geo-political zones in Nigeria,"the statement reads.
