The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, at the age of 66.
The respected Yoruba movie star reportedly died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, after battling Stage 4 cancer.

His death comes only days after members of his family publicly appealed for medical assistance and specialist attention as his health condition deteriorated.

Earlier reports of Ogogo's death had circulated during the week but were strongly denied by his family, who at the time maintained that the veteran actor was alive and receiving medical attention.
However, fresh reports on Sunday confirmed his passing, bringing to an end the life and career of one of the most recognisable faces in the Yoruba sector of Nollywood.

Ogogo enjoyed a remarkable acting career spanning several decades and became famous for his commanding performances in numerous Yoruba films. His contribution to the growth and development of the Nigerian film industry earned him admiration from generations of movie lovers.
His death is another painful loss to Nollywood and the Nigerian entertainment industry.
